The Process
Commissioning a custom piece of furniture, cabinetry, or otherwise can seem daunting. It requires a unique and trusting relationship with the craftsman tasked with bringing your vision to life. And if were being honest, it can be financially daunting to invest in something like that. At Woodforge, this is what you can expect moving through the process.
Step 1: Reach Out
Fill out the form on the Contact page letting Matthew know what your looking to have made. You can be as specific as you’d like or you can wait for the initial consult to get into the details.
Step 2: The Initial Consultation
After receiving your inquiry, Matthew will connect with you and schedule either an in-person or over-the-phone consult with you. During this consult, rough details will be discussed and worked out. Based on the details provided, Matthew will send you a price estimate. Provided that estimate is within your budget, we would proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Design and Finalized Quote
The design process can be as intensive as it can be simple; it all depends on the scope of the vision and work involved. Matthew will work with you regarding your options to determine a final design. Once this is completed and the final design is approved, Matthew will provide the finalized quote. If you approve the final quote, a 50% deposit will be required to confirm your order. At this time a lead time will be provided.
Step 4: Craftsman At Work
This is the step where your vision and all the edits and conversations come to life. Your commission enters the build phase where Matthew works tirelessly to craft and assembly your piece. Its important to Matthew that you enjoy the process as you work with him, and as such progress updates and photos can be provided so you can see it take shape.
Step 5: Delivery
Once the commissioned piece is finished, it will be carefully packaged and loaded for shipment. Depending on location and the requirements of the piece, shipping can be done in person by Matthew or through a trusted and insured carrier. Depending on the option chosen, final payment will be required to be rendered at time of delivery or shipment.
